Gurdwara under construction, Coventry Street
The Gurdwara Guru Hargobind is a Sikh place of worship under construction in Stoke, Coventry. It has a page on the World Gurudwaras site https://www.worldgurudwaras.com/gurudwaras/gurdwara-guru-hargobind-coventry/ (gurudwara is an alternative spelling of gurdwara), but it doesn't have much more information than I have here. Hargobind was the sixth of the ten consecutive Sikh gurus; his Wikipedia page is here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guru_Hargobind .

North Street, Stoke, Coventry
North Street forms part of Upper Stoke, a block of streets to the east of Barras Heath that seems to have been built up piecemeal in the 19th century with a great variety of house types. The row of six three-storey houses to the right are unmistakeably ribbon-weavers' houses with their high top-shops on the topmost floor for the tall jacquard looms. The outlines of the large windows, now partly filled in with bricks of a different colour and texture, can clearly be seen, except on the pair of houses that have been rendered. The pair of houses on the left has the red and yellow chequerboard brickwork that is very common in parts of Warwickshire.

Alpha House seen from across Barras Heath, Stoke, Coventry
Barras Heath was a piece of common land in the parish of Stoke and survives as a public park. https://www.british-history.ac.uk/vch/warks/vol8/pp96-104 Alpha House is a 17-storey housing block built by Coventry city council in 1962-3. It was designed by Arthur Ling & H Stanley Smith and was built by Costain using the Dutch 'jackblock' method, the first building in the UK to be so constructed. https://www.towerblock.eca.ed.ac.uk/development/barras-heath Essentially the roof was constructed first and raised on jacks, followed by the top floor, the whole structure being built from the top downwards and jacked up steadily, with lower floors inserted one by one below. Once complete, it was anchored to the foundations (Mercia House in the Lower Precinct was also built by this method, which did not catch on). Alpha House was renovated in 2010 and clad with aluminium panels. https://news.coventrysociety.org.uk/2020/10/19/alpha-house-that-jacks-built/
