Behind the Herbert Centre
The heap is of crushed brick from previous buildings on this site to the west of the Herbert Centre. What a lovely corkscrew of a fire escape. University buildings flank the west face of the site.

Whitefriars Street, Coventry
Whitefriars Street, seen here at the end of a hot summer afternoon, takes its name from the medieval Carmelite friary that stood nearby, parts of which still survive. On the right can be seen the new building of the Coventry Boys & Girls Club. Founded in 1935 as the Coventry Boys' Club, it moved to its new home around 2018, while student flats were constructed on its old site nearby. For a timeline, see the CGBC site here https://www.covboysandgirlsclub.co.uk/cbgc-timeline/ ; the new building can be seen under construction here

Gosford Street, Coventry
Looking down Gosford Street from its junction with Cox Street. Within the group of buildings in the middle distance is what is considered to be the oldest example of a timber framed building in Coventry, estimated to date from the 14th century, renovated and opened as a public house (Whitefriars) in 2000. The white and green building is The Oak public house, known to have been licensed since at least 1823. To complete the set, the building near right is a third public house which has undergone many name changes recently, currently The Phoenix, but is better known by the name it held for many years - the Sir Colin Campbell. Beyond the ring road flyover are the towers of Coventry University's Lanchester library.
Both the Whitefriars and Oak public houses are grade II listed buildings.
