The Ramsgate Home for Smack Boys
Look, stop sniggering! Smacks were small boats, and the boys in the crews had nowhere to stay when on shore. It was a very charitable enterprise in 1881.

Pavement-sharing, Royal Parade, Ramsgate
I took this picture, after I had received an email on 20 November 2009, from a certain Joe Jones, though this website, who wrote “I notice you are taking photos in Ramsgate. I wonder if you have or would take for me a photo of the sign(s) on Royal Parade that ask cyclists and others to share and respect each other. We need a photo of it to show councillors up here in North Wales. The following day, he explained that it was to “allow cycling on Llandudno Prom - bicycle safety”. I sent the picture to him on 29 December 2009. The houses on the opposite side of the road are in Nelson Crescent.
