Former National Provicial Bank, Coulsdon
This building, standing in the fork angle between Chipstead Valley Road and Brighton Road, was the local branch of National Provincial, but when this bank merged with the Westminster to form the National Westminster Bank, the new bank found itself with two branches in Coulsdon; after a few years, this building was sold and is now occupied by Park and Bailey, financial advisers.

Woolworth's, Coulsdon, Surrey
In its last month of trading, this picture will soon pass into the realms of history. Next door to Woolworth's, the Wimpey Bar must by now be almost the longest-lived of Coulsdon's many eating houses.

Chipstead Valley Road, Coulsdon, Surrey
A popular shopping street, often with vehicles illegally parked making it barely wide enough for the 166 bus service to Chipstead Valley. Now, in 2007, single deckers are used and the route is extended to Banstead with some buses going through to Epsom.

Coulsdon: Was Woolworth's, now Tesco
On Chipstead Valley road, the old Woolworth's store has opened as a Tesco Express. Not everyone in Coulsdon welcomes this - there is a giant Super Tesco already less than two miles away in Purley, while Coulsdon itself is already very well served by a Waitrose supermarket.

A new public house in Coulsdon
The old Red Lion in Coulsdon was closed years ago, and has now been demolished. Central Coulsdon was without a pub for some time until a small wine bar opened on Brighton Road, but now (on 1 October 2008) a new public house has opened as 'The Pembroke' on the site of the old Co-operative store. The pub. is spacious with a pleasant open ambience, and offers a range of real beers as well as food.
