?Princess Elizabeth? Leaves East Croydon (3)
No.6201 Stanier Pacific “Princess Elizabeth” leaves East Croydon with the Cathedrals Express, from London Victoria, to Bristol, via Redhill. A “gallery” of about 25 people, including Southern rail staff, gathered on the bridge to witness the departure. “Princess Elizabeth” previously ran through Croydon, on an excursion, in the summer of 2008; today, it was deputising for “Tangmere”, which is currently out of service. The excursion was due to leave, from platform 5, at 10.27, but departed about three minutes late. http://www.6201.co.uk/ Image

Not as it Appears
No.4492 'Dominion of New Zealand' seen departing from East Croydon ..... except that it isn't; it's actually No.60019 'Bittern', in disguise. The Gresley pacific locomotive is expected to run in this guise for three years. 'The Cathedrals Express' steam excursion was routed, from Victoria to Bristol, via Redhill and Guildford; organised by Steam Dreams. http://www.steamdreams.co.uk/Executables/GT410WebContent.exe?&ActionCode=HP&SS=SDSVR01\SQLExpress&DB=SteamDreams&Division=A

No Trains Today
The third day of winter snow, and no trains were running south from East Croydon. If fact, very few trains were running north from this station!
