No.6201 Stanier Pacific “Princess Elizabeth” leaves East Croydon with the Cathedrals Express, from London Victoria, to Bristol, via Redhill. A “gallery” of about 25 people, including Southern rail staff, gathered on the bridge to witness the departure. “Princess Elizabeth” previously ran through Croydon, on an excursion, in the summer of 2008; today, it was deputising for “Tangmere”, which is currently out of service. The excursion was due to leave, from platform 5, at 10.27, but departed about three minutes late. http://www.6201.co.uk/ Image
