Oshwal Mahajanwadi, Croydon
A place of worship and community for followers in the area. The religion is Jainism, although apparently Hindu weddings have taken place here. As one might gather from its appearance, formerly a church, a Congregational church.

Century Buildings, London Road, Broad Green, Croydon
Broad Green is one of the more deprived bits of Croydon. When this building went up in 1901, large amounts of the map were coloured pink to show they belonged to the British Empire, but most people who saw it opened would doubtless have found it hard to imagine how the century to come would include natives of many corners of the former empire coming to live in Broad Green.

West Croydon United Reformed Church, London Road
"Croydon's most ambitious spire", wrote Pevsner. A ragstone church built by the aptly-named Mr Church in 1886, in an Early English Gothic style. Grade II listed.

Building in Broad Green, Croydon
This building stands out on what is the "original" London to Brighton road just north of the town centre. It is one of a few from the pre-war (1939) era of this design that are left along the road in this area, as many buildings have been redeveloped. With small shops at street level, the building rises several floors, most of this being residential.

Not really very grand. Broad Green is one of the more deprived bits of Croydon.
