The Shropshire Union Canal passes Chester city walls
The Shropshire Union Canal is about 66 miles long and links the Manchester Ship Canal (and therefore the River Mersey) with the canal systems of the West Midlands.
It is seen here towards its northern end as it passes the city walls of the ancient city of Chester. A spur a little to the west of this point also links the canal to the River Dee. As can be seen, the canal is at a considerably lower elevation to the houses along the wall. The photograph was taken from Image] which carries Northgate Street over the canal.

Millennium Festival Trail: Rufus Court - No 38
The Chester Millennium Festival Trail is a route that was created in the year 2000, and which winds through the city passing 40 buildings of architectural interest. This marker is named RUFUS COURT and is No 38. It is set into the walkway as you descend into the court from the city walls. This area was developed in 1991 and is home to the popular music and comedy venue, Alexander's Jazz Theatre.
