Maesteg Bus Station ? 1979
At this time the town was largely served by two local independent operators, Brewers of Caerau (two-tone blue) and Llynfi Motors of Maesteg. Both operators had a mix of new and second hand vehicles, all single deck. The two Brewer buses are 605MNY (left) an AEC Reliance with Weymann bodywork new in 1961 and MBO518F (right) an AEC Swift with Alexander bodywork, new to Cardiff City Transport in 1968 but sold on at a relatively young age in 1976.
This is one of a series of views featuring buses in the 60s, 70s, and 80s. http://www.geograph.org.uk/search.php?i=137652761
The bus station is much improved from the basic open area seen here, with dedicated bays and shelters https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/4225949 . The fire station with its tower has disappeared.

Central Church, Maesteg
Central Church in Church Street is now (2014) a local ecumenical partnership (Baptist, Methodist and United Reformed Church). Central Church was formed in 1985 when members of the Unity Church (Methodists and English Congregationalists) joined the Baptists who already worshipped here.
Though the church information board states that Christians have worshipped in this building since 1847, the inscription in stone on the building shows the year 1859 (Bethel English Baptist Chapel), which suggests that it is the 1859 rebuild of the 1847 original.

Maesteg War Memorial
Located on the corner of Talbot Street and Castle Street, at the edge of St David's church.
The memorial is a pedestal of grey granite, standing 10' 3" high, surmounted by a 7' high bronze sculpture, portraying a soldier with a bayonet defending to the last his dying comrade.
The unveiling ceremony took place on Wednesday November 3rd 1926. A reporter for the Glamorgan Gazette estimated that there were between 20,000 and 50,000 people present. The original dedication on the Memorial is "In ever glorious and grateful memory of the men of Maesteg and District who gave their lives in the Great War, 1914-1918."
On Sunday, November 10th 1946, another unveiling and memorial service took place, to the fallen of the Second World War.
