At this time the town was largely served by two local independent operators, Brewers of Caerau (two-tone blue) and Llynfi Motors of Maesteg. Both operators had a mix of new and second hand vehicles, all single deck. The two Brewer buses are 605MNY (left) an AEC Reliance with Weymann bodywork new in 1961 and MBO518F (right) an AEC Swift with Alexander bodywork, new to Cardiff City Transport in 1968 but sold on at a relatively young age in 1976. This is one of a series of views featuring buses in the 60s, 70s, and 80s. http://www.geograph.org.uk/search.php?i=137652761 The bus station is much improved from the basic open area seen here, with dedicated bays and shelters https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/4225949 . The fire station with its tower has disappeared.
