Class 37 in Roath
Class 37 No. 37421 and No. 37025 top-and-tail a Cardiff Canton to Rhymney crew training run through the Cardiff suburb on Roath; the train is seen crossing Fairoak Road bridge.
Of interest is the trackside structure in the bottom-left of the picture. Some texts about the history of Cardiff talk about the existence of a short platform used for Cathays cemetery. It is described as having existed only on the up side of the line, and having a sloped platform to assist the carriage of coffins from the railway towards the nearby cemetery. Is this it?

Cathays Cemetery platform
What is believed to be the former platform for Cathays Cemetery is seen from a passing train. Though the precise location of the platform is not clear from sources in which it is mentioned, the proxity to the cemetery and matching description of a short platform on the up line of the Rhymney Railway with a gentle slope to assist the onward movement of coffins certainly accord.
