15th century houses in Silver Street
The house on the left is of stone rubble. The pink row are timber framed and plastered, the upstairs was originally jettied, the downstairs being later built out in brick (further details available at Images of England, http://www.imagesofengland.org.uk/Details/Default.aspx?id=435275 and http://www.imagesofengland.org.uk/Details/Default.aspx?id=435276 ).

Ely: mediaeval houses on Silver Street
These Grade II listed houses date from the fifteenth century. In an area without building stone, the nearer one, with limestone rubble walls, must have been expensive and showy when it was built.
