Barnwell: Rayson Way and a stench pipe
Rayson Way is on the large council-built Barnwell Estate south of Newmarket Road in the north-eastern quarter of Cambridge. The sewer vent pipe on the left is the usual Victorian cast-iron type, supplied, like many stench pipes in Cambridge, by Ham, Baker & Co Limited, Engineers, of Westminster. It has lost its decorative crown cap.

Barnwell Road: spring green
After a cold March and early April, it was good to see the first bright leaves of spring appearing in the middle of the month. A useful cycle path runs beside the inner ring road.
