St Kentigern's Well, Caldbeck
The well is contained in a small rectangular basin, level with the two red flagstones. It is situated behind St Kentigern's Church, on the bank of the Cald Beck. The steps leading down to it can be seen in this photo Image . St Kentigern (also known by his nickname of St Mungo) spent some time preaching in the area now called Cumbria during the 6th century AD. It is said that he baptised his converts in this well (more information on church website http://www.achurchnearyou.com/caldbeck-st-kentigern/ ).
