Freight train, freight train, run so fast
"Freight Train" is an American folk song written by Elizabeth Cotten (b.1892) in the early 1900s and popularized during the American folk revival period of the 1950s and 1960s - see the Wiki entry http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freight_Train_(song). There's a wonderful video on YouTube of Elizabeth Cotten herself playing and singing Freight Train: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tm5-WdB_aVE.

The former Armathwaite signal box
A non-operational box since 1983, but preserved as a heritage attraction. See https://settle-carlisle.co.uk/place/armathwaite-signal-box/ for details and opening times. Armathwaite is one of only four stations between Kirkby Stephen and Carlisle remaining open (the others being Appleby, Langwathby and Lazonby & Kirkoswald); there used to be nine others serving small villages, that have all closed, although the platforms or station building survive at some of them.
