4 May 2023 | Community concerned about further youth-related night time criminal damage in Alston town. Response (4 May 2023)Further damage at railway station - Investigation ongoing and suspects have been identified and are to be spoken to & crime prevention measures put in place… re: damage to farm walls & buildings Alston NPT officer is in the process of speaking to identified youths with parents present and his investigation continues. Regular mobile & evening foot patrols of the hotspot areas will continue. |
4 May 2023 | ongoing concerns over parking and speeding. Recent intel also about sporadic drug activity on sections of estate. Response (23 Jun 2023)carried out street safe surveys and letter dropped drivers who have been perceived to be speeding and we have liaised with the local councillor. We have regular patrols in the area and have the speed indication device deployed in the area for a month recording over 7000 vehicles the average speed was 17.5mph. Eden police will continue to carry out patrols in this location. |
1 Feb 2024 | Issues with vehicles exceeding the 30-mph speed limit through the village Response (14 Feb 2024)We will be a high visibility in this area of concerns around key times. Enforcement or words of advice will be given depending on the nature of the issue. We will carry out speed checks when able to. We are also working with Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service who are the lead organisation to deliver educational inputs to young drivers; this has been done on a night time in hot spot areas or via school educational inputs. |

10 Dec 2024 | Issues with vehicles exceeding speed limit through Calthwaite village Response (10 Dec 2024)We have deployed the SID (Speed indication device) in Calthwaite. 2,550 vehicles activated the device. The 85th percentile speed was 31.3mph, which is within tolerated limits and no excessive speeding issue has been determined, however, review is ongoing highways to determine if further action is required. This location will remain subject to routine police enforcement. |
10 Dec 2024 | Issues with vehicles exceeding speed limit through Plumpton village Response (10 Dec 2024)We have assessed Plumpton Village with Highways and our Road Safety Unit, who have previously carried out traffic and speed surveys across the village. No excessive speeding issue has been identified and the 85% percentile speeds are within tolerated levels. This location will be subject to routine enforcement by local officers. We encourage residents to report concerns about dangerously parked cars at the time to us online or by ringing 101. |
