Jointly organised by the North of England Rat Society and the Scottish Rat Club, a show of domestic rats was held in St Mark's Church Hall on 16 July 2016. The show included various competitions and an opportunity for the public to get "up close and personal" with tame rats.

St Mark's Church, Belah
This Anglican church was built in 1952 to serve the expanding housing estates in north Carlisle. Today it is used for community and social activities as well as for worship (Information from church website http://www.stanwixchurch.org ).

The Belah Centre
The building was completely refurbished in 2008 - previously it had been little more than a hut. Built in 1951 as a Baptist church, it was bought by Carlisle City Council in 1964 and converted to a community centre (Centre website http://www.belahcommunitycentre.org.uk ).
