Former "Blue Bell Inn", Scotch Street, Carlisle - June 2017
18th Century coaching inn, acquired by the State Management Scheme on 28 August 1916. It was sold in 1973 to W Vasey & Sons for £50,000 and closed shortly thereafter for alteration to the retail outlets seen here. At the time of sale, the premises included the Inn, and off sales and a shop (let to Halfords Limited). While the brick-faced front appears original (excepting the ground floor), the gable wall nearest the camera is new.
