Image: © The Carlisle Kid Taken: 7 Jun 2017

18th Century coaching inn, acquired by the State Management Scheme on 28 August 1916. It was sold in 1973 to W Vasey & Sons for £50,000 and closed shortly thereafter for alteration to the retail outlets seen here. At the time of sale, the premises included the Inn, and off sales and a shop (let to Halfords Limited). While the brick-faced front appears original (excepting the ground floor), the gable wall nearest the camera is new. Photograph is for record only - I have no connection with any business seen in this view and cannot advise on their products or services.
