A view of St Mary's church in the hamlet of Threlkeld. The present building dates from the 18th century, although the belltower is a remnant of an older church. A church has existed here since the early middle ages. Fore more information, see: Threlkeld Church, history: http://www.threlkeldchurch.org.uk/history.html

Royal Arms over the main entrance. The practice of hanging Royal Arms in Church dates from King Henry VIII's break with Rome in 1534. Sadly, these are not rare Tudor arms, but are thought to date from the Hanoverian era.
