Maulds Meaburn: weir on the river Lyvennet
There would have been a weir here in medieval times, to feed the mill race which forms part of the Scheduled Ancient monument. But the scheduling does not include the present weir, which is presumably of later date.

Maulds Meaburn: Coronation swings
Many things must have been dated 1953 in honour of the coronation of Queen Elizabeth, but a village swing is an unusual example. It's not the only Coronation legacy locally, see the WI bench Image, and maybe reflects the royal associations hinted at by the name of the companion village King's Meaburn. It is least evidence that generations of children have enjoyed this facility over the last 66 years of the Queen's reign.

Maulds Meaburn: former pub
The 1916 map shows this building with a porch as the Masons Arms. In the foreground, a couple of black sheep, one of many both black and white that roam the village, not bothered by either pedestrians or occasional motor traffic.
