The yellow bikes of Langwathby (9)
Not to be outdone by the display of yellow bikes in the neighbouring village of Melmerby (see Image), the inhabitants of Langwathby have set about the task of adorning their village with at least 25 yellow bikes in anticipation of the Aviva Tour of Britain 2015. Stage 5 of the Tour on September 10th runs from Prudhoe in the Tyne valley to the finish on Hartside Pass. Three examples are stationed by the bend on the main road at the eastern end of the village green.

Not to be outdone by the display of yellow bikes in the neighbouring village of Melmerby (see Image), the inhabitants of Langwathby have set about the task of adorning their village with at least 25 yellow bikes in anticipation of the Aviva Tour of Britain 2015. Stage 5 of the Tour on September 10th runs from Prudhoe in the Tyne valley to the finish on Hartside Pass. This example rests against the wall of the Shepherd's Inn in the centre of the village (see Image)

The Tour of Britain is coming to Langwathby
The Shepherds Inn in Langwathby is decked out in bunting in anticipation of the Aviva Tour of Britain 2015. Stage 5 of the Tour on September 10th runs from Prudhoe in the Tyne valley to the finish on Hartside Pass. The banner reads "The Shepherds Inn Langwathby welcomes the Tour of Britain to the Eden Valley". One of the many yellow bikes which have been stationed around the village can be seen against the side wall.

War memorial on village green
The Langwathby war memorial on the village green. The yellow cycle and bunting are there as the cycle race, 'Tour of Britain', was expected through within a few days of the image being recorded.
