Tardree Mountain
Boggy ground at the foot of Tardree Mountain, near Antrim. Tardree is a popular mountain biking area. Most of Co Antrim is of volcanic origin so it could well be the eroded remains of an ancient volcano though I haven't been able to find positive evidence that this is the case. There are lots of these volcanic plugs in the area, the best known of which is Slemish, near Ballymena (D 2205)

Power lines
It's hard to escape these ubiquitous structures in the modern world. Personally, as a photographer, I find these "blots on the landscape" quite dramatic against a stormy winter sky though these particular examples are a lot smaller than the usual statuesque tall metal pylons that stride across the countryside. I'm afraid I don't have the technical knowledge to differentiate between the various types and sizes and what exactly they are for.
