Hilden House
This Georgian house was once associated with the Barbour family who made their fortune in linen thread. Today it is best known for the Hilden Brewery, and associated Tap Room restaurant, located to the rear of the house.

Hilden Brewery
Established in 1981, Hilden is Ireland's oldest independent brewery. On this site in the outskirts of Lisburn there is both the brewery itself and a licensed restaurant where, of course, the products can be purchased to accompany a meal.

This area (middle bottom in
Image) is the only part of the premises outside the fence. My thanks to a visitor to the site who told me that this was originally a canteen (known as the “dining room”) and that there were wooden benches outside for the workers to rest at lunch time.
