Nos 41-49 Waring Street, Belfast (October 2018)
A building, currently used as offices, between the Nambarrie site https://www.geograph.org.uk/snippet/5146 and the former Ulster Bank (now the Merchant Hotel)
Image Very little information available other than that it appears to be last 19th century and has had a wide variety of tenants over the years including
1960 - Ministry of Finance - Training Centre, Typing School
1932 - Irish CE [Christian Endeavour] Union Headquarters and Bookroom
1918 - Lewis, Jas., W., Agent for Fleming Bros., Rolled Steel Joists and Girder Merchants.
Also one of the few, in immediate area, with no proposals for redevelopment.

Former Ulster Bank, Belfast (detail)
The head office of the Ulster Bank, at the corner of Waring Street and Skipper Street, was completed in 1860 to the design of James Hamilton of Glasgow. It is, unfortunately, next to impossible to photograph unless using a camera with movements. This is the pediment showing Britannia attended by Justice and Commerce. The bank has moved to new offices
Image more in keeping with the 21st century. The building is now a hotel. Continue to

A shuttered first-floor goods entrance on the Waring Street side of the building. Something which was quite common until around the early 1960’s but has now vanished into architectural and commercial history.

The Nambarrie site, Belfast (April 2018)
The former Nambarrie tea warehouse is back on the market. The agents’ description includes “The subject is a four storey building of red brick construction dating back to 1959. It was formerly used as the Nambarrie Tea factory and offices in Belfast city centre. The property benefits from significant frontage onto both Victoria Street and Waring Street and lends itself to a wide range of uses, including hostel, luxury apartments, student accommodation, boutique hotel, office refurbishment or leisure facilities (subject to planning)”.
