Bell Square
A small square by most standards, Bell Square is an old part of Blagdon. Across is Bilbie House; the Bilbie family were renowned bell casters of the eighteenth century who lived in the north Somerset area. The footpath leads to the church of St Andrew, passing an old water pillar - see Image

Water pillar in Bell Square

Blagdon Fire Station
Blagdon has an earlier station a little further up High Street, but this more modern facility opened in 1971. The Retained Duty System operates here and the team covers an area of 59 square kilometres.

An unassuming exterior
This rather down-trodden building is, in fact, the Blagdon Telephone Exchange. Despite the dowdy appearance, the site is brimming inside with high-tech equipment and fibre optic systems.
