Spoke to the very nice owner, he had recently replaced the timber covers of the well in front. Does not use it! Rest of building intact since construction.

Recreation area in old pit
This area is well below street level. In Victorian times there was a brick and tile works a little south of here, so the excavation must have been made for clay.
