Ship Street
A short street lying between Lewes Road and Elphick Road with just one dwelling on it. Built in the late 19th century along with a large proportion of the other terraced housing in the vicinity.

Robinson Road
The road once headed south to Essex Place then via narrow streets made its way to the High Street. However, the construction of the town's ring road in the early 1980s resulted in the demolition of Essex Place and turning Robinson Road into a dead end. The road provides access to the boatyards along the old cut of the river along with a few works and a council depot at the far end of the street.

Lewes Road
The ancient road to Lewes that links up a number of villages that were founded on the springline of the South Downs. The terrace on the right descends down to the Jolly Boatman public house that lies on the corner of this road and Elphick Road and like much of the terraced housing in the vicinity was built in the late 1890s or early 1900s.

Old River Ouse
The original course of the river until a new cut was added in the late 19th century which formed Denton Island to the right. Consequently, when the tide is out this part is no more than a trickle in a sea of mud.

Old Cut, River Ouse
The original meander of the river that was loped off during the straightening in the 1860s creating Denton Island in the process. Now used as mooring for small pleasure craft this cut also contains a number of chandleries and boat yards, one straight ahead and one on the island.

Evelyn Avenue
Built in the first decade or so of the 20th century and runs between Lewes Road and Murray Avenue. For many years it was a rat run for drivers who wished to avoid the ring road until the entrance via Murray Avenue on Brighton Road was closed.
