Jackies Lane
Taken from the junction with Redgill Lane. Originally the main east-west road through the northern part of Chailey until it was superseded by the modern A272 built in the 1770s on a ridge to the south. The straightness of the lane and a nearby field name with common in it suggests a small green was once located here and enclosed.

Lower Mead
The name of the field according to the 1838 tithe map. The area bounded by Jackies Lane and the current A272 has seen a lot of change since the tithe map, much of the original field pattern was obliterated when the area became a small park for a house called Reedens which lies to the north. However, the park seems to have been shortlived as by the early 20th century the area had been fenced again and returned to pasture.

Five and a Half Acre Field
The name of the field according to the 1838 tithe map. The old field pattern was obliterated in the mid 19th century to turn the land bounded by Jackies Lane and the modern A272 into parkland for nearby Reedens. By the early 20th century hedges and fences had reappeared suggesting a return to some agricultural use. Some of the original hedgerow trees were left standing individually and still dot the landscape today.
