Downland Avenue, Findon Valley
A small estate developed from the 1930s onwards when this part of Findon was transferred to Worthing. The road forms a four sided shape with an entrance extending eastwards to Findon Road, the A24. This section in view is the western end which was not completed until after the Second World War and is located on the site of two small fields called West Compiers and South Mill Lane Croft.

The Gallops, Findon Valley
The Gallops is an open space very popular with dog walkers. A public bridleway runs to the right of the trees on the left of the photograph. The road in the foreground is Bost Hill.

Bost Hill
An old country lane linking Findon Road, the A24, to the suburb of High Salvington. Previously known as Paygate Lane after the old tollhouse that lay at the junction of Findon Road which was demolished around 1932.

The Gallops
A stretch of open land between Salvington Hill to the left and the western part of Findon Valley suburb to the right and bounded by the Bost Hill road to the north. Now a public open space it was saved by development in the 1930s when a local benefactor created a trust to maintain the land for the benefit of exercising horses
