The end of the Eardley
This Victorian seafront hotel is being demolished to make way for a retro-styled development of luxury apartments. Sadly the new building will be "sympathetic" to the style of the old hotel which makes no architectural statement.

The building which the green vehicle is serving is called 'The Eardley'. Although it is in the same style as other much older buildings on the seafront it is in fact only a few years old.

Redevelopment on Worthing's seafront, West Sussex
A telephoto image from the pier, looking towards the Marine Parade seafront. The development by the crane is between York Road and Warwick Road.
Although the top of the beach profile in this direction does become more shingly further to the east, plenty of sand is available when the tide is not at its highest. The wooden groynes help prevent erosion and long-shore drift of beach material to the east.
