Evening at Brooksbottoms
Ten rows of brick houses were built at Brooksbottoms in the mid-1880s to house workers at the nearby Brooksbottoms Mill which had been rebuilt and enlarged by its new owners Joshua Hoyle & Sons in 1876. These houses were refurbished in the 1980s (after the mill had closed).

Old Mill Workers Houses at Brooksbottoms
In 1885 many rows of red brick houses were built for the mill workers at Brooksbottoms. The initial rent for these houses was four shillings equivalent to 20p by today's money. Many of these houses have been modernised and as you can see are in use today.
