Ten rows of brick houses were built at Brooksbottoms in the mid-1880s to house workers at the nearby Brooksbottoms Mill which had been rebuilt and enlarged by its new owners Joshua Hoyle & Sons in 1876. These houses were refurbished in the 1980s (after the mill had closed).
