Eagley Mills
Former mill complex now converted to housing. The nearest mill is now called Valley Mill and is the former No. " Mill built in 1881 and Listed Grade II. Beyond with the horizontal banding is Brook Mill, formerly No. 3 Mill, built in 1871 and rebuilt in 1887 following a fire. It too is Grade II Listed.

According to modern signage, Valley Mill is closest with Brook Mill in the background. Longworth (1987), The Cotton Mills of Bolton 1780-1985 has a nice aerial perspective painting of this complex - awesome. This is an excellent book if you do mills.

Eagley Mills
Two impressive multi-storey mill blocks have been converted to housing and there is a small stone block on the opposite side of the river that may be part of a third. Then you see a 1920 aerial photo with five major mill blocks and associated chimneys. This is an impressive complex nonetheless and I wish I had seen it before conversion.
This faintly reminds me of pictures of some of the US conversions - mainly New England. I spent most of this day looking at mill conversions in Lancashire. The one that wasn't (Edenwood Mill, Stubbins) is likely to be converted in the future.

Valley Mill, Eagley
One of two surviving large mill blocks from a major textile mill complex. This is now converted to housing and is still an imposing presence in the landscape. The date stone is 1881.
A 1925 aerial photograph shows four large multi-storey blocks, four chimneys, a large weaving shed and sundry other buildings. It is possible Valley Mill is a modern name as my references all refer to Eagley Mills without naming individual blocks.

The eastern facade. This included the main entrance to the building and the imposing large widows to the stairwell. The stone between the doors displays the date 1881.
