Lostock railway station, Lancashire
The original Lostock Junction station was opened by the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway in 1852 and lasted until 1966 with platforms on the Bolton-Preston line (seen here) and the Bolton-Wigan line (to the right). When the current station opened in 1988, platforms were only provided on the Preston line. View (north) east towards Bolton, a few months after the line was electrified. Compare with Image taken from the same position some 8 years earlier.

Lostock Junction
Looking from the bridge at Rumworth Road, along the railway line from Wigan to the junction apprimately 150 yards to the east of Lostock Station. At this junction the Wigan line joins that from Preston, before continuing towards Bolton and Manchester.

Lostock station
The new Lostock station, positioned on the other side of Lostock Junction from the original, closed in the 1960s. Seen when quite new with wooden platforms and minimal passenger facilities.
