The original Lostock Junction station was opened by the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway in 1852 and lasted until 1966 with platforms on the Bolton-Preston line (seen here) and the Bolton-Wigan line (to the right, see Image]). When the current station opened in 1988, platforms were only provided on the Preston line. View (north) east towards Bolton, a few years before the lines were electrified.
