The United Reformed Church of St Andrew and St George
This large United Reformed Church is at the corner of St George's Road and Higher Bridge Street in Bolton. The church was founded in 1863 as St George's Road Independent (later Congregational) Church.
The church's website contains a history (http://www.stagurc.com/History/Heritage%20Booklet.pdf ) of the church. A line-drawing of the building shows that there was originally a spire on top of the tower. A photograph, dated 1936, shows that this was in existence at least until that date.
The church is Grade II listed (http://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/en-476253-united-reformed-church-of-st-andrew-and- British Listed Buildings).

The Victoria Hall, Bolton
The Knowsley Street façade, showing the red-brick and terracotta entrance and the ground floor shops which were retained and let to provide income for the Mission. The tower has paired first-floor windows with a tripartite oriel window above them. The round, blind panel was presumably originally meant to house a clock.

The Main Hall, Bolton Methodist Mission (Victoria Hall)
A similar view to
Image], but this time looking from the platform, towards the back of the hall.
The Victoria Hall was opened in 1900 with more than 1,250 seats. It was designed in the style of a music hall so everyone would feel welcome, including those who were not regular church-goers. Although the seating and platform area have been modernised, the auditorium features much of the original Victorian décor. There is a gallery around three sides, carried on plaster-encased columns with enriched Ionic capitals and a high relief frieze. The curved ceiling is divided into deep plaster panels.
