This yard runs between the Image (which is to our left) and Image (right) and is the entrance visible in the second picture linked in this sentence. Ahead of us, we see the back of Hampshire House, the flats on Bourne Avenue, and can see that the window ledges have been painted in a variety of red, yellow, green and blue, matching the colour scheme of some of the details of the frontage (Image).

Bournemouth: the end for Borders
Looking across the back of the Borders bookshop (see Image) a few minutes after 5 o'clock on the day before the Bournemouth branch closes – the other 44 will have followed suit by Christmas. What had last week been a store with many, many books and relatively few people queuing, was this evening a store with few books and many people queuing, as they took advantage of savings of up to 90%. Tomorrow, it would be any 5 items for £1. Some people were also carting out some of the bookshelves and other fittings, which were also for sale.

Hampshire House, Bourne Avenue
A building with Art Deco decorations. The upper floors are divided into flats (apparently three on each floor). The side walls of the building are not at right angles to the frontage, which follows the curve of the road
