Castleman Trailway near Broadstone
A view south along the Castleman Trailway as it approaches Broadstone. This section of the route is also on route 25 of the National Cycle Network. It follows the course of a dismantled railway. The railway closed in 1964, as part of the "Beeching Cuts".

Merley: bench in Delph Woods
A small bench on the westward path in Delph Woods, an ideal place to sit and relax – most of those who do so probably watch as their dogs play!

Castleman Trail
The cycle trail is explained at Image Here the disused railway line is just crossing a tiny stream, a tributary of the Stour, which provides water features on Broadstone Golf Course.

Old Oak in Delph Woods
Tall and symmetrical, this oak stands in the centre of a clearing, surrounded by dense woodland. With a girth of 4.70m, the tree is likely to be about 450 years old. Seen in Google Earth, it has an elliptical canopy 31m x 23m that seems to have grown with little competition. Perhaps the clearing is man-made and very old too?

Merley: lofty tree in Delph Woods
This magnificent tree stands in a sort of mini-clearing in Delph Woods, making it not only one of the most conspicuous individuals but also probably one of the farthest from its neighbours.
