Wallisdown: a postbox has been moved
This postbox was moved about a year ago from its position on the forecourt, facing the door of the post office (see Image). This occurred shortly after the telephone box was removed. The council moved a bus stop to right outside the post office when a pedestrian crossing was installed, in the process removing the on-street parking. The removal of the phone box and the repositioning of the postbox now allow more accessible forecourt parking. See also Image Another change is the wonkiness of the post office sign - presumably damaged by a van.

Wallisdown: an old signboard is revealed
Wallisdown Post Office and general store is having an external makeover, and just for the moment we can see a 1970s signboard which has remained hidden for 30-odd years: it says "Brian Pursey - News - Food -and- Greeting cards - Post Office". The old fashioned painted wooden board is wonderfully contrasted alongside the shiny new Post Office end piece. See Image for a closer view of the signboard from the far end.
