This local convenience store is on Columbia Road at its eastern end close to its junction with Boundary Rd.

The Co-Op occupies the building that was previously Image after the pub closed 10 years or so ago. Amid the global coronavirus pandemic of 2020, the store, along with all supermarkets and grocery stores, introduced measures to try to maintain the 2m distance between people from different households. This sign states that restrictions may be placed on the number of people in the store at any one time – it's 11:30 in the morning here, so there is no need, but there was a short queue at lunchtime yesterday as a one-in-one-out system was in operation. Government advice is to make only essential journeys from home and, when out, maintain 2m distance from other people outside the same household. Here, as well as tape on the floor at 2m intervals around the store, screens have been erected across the checkouts, and goods displays have been placed across the front to ensure maximum workable distance between cashier and customer. Contactless payment is encouraged where possible, and the notice nearest us on the right asks that we consider whether a lottery ticket or scratchcard is an essential purchase: if we do wish to buy one, we are asked to buy only lucky dips – which do not need a completed lottery slip passed from customer to cashier and back; and until further notice no lottery or scratchcard payouts are being made.

This phone box is outside the Co-Op (the former Image) and has been toppled, presumably a vehicle collision. I guess it happened today, as I didn't see it when I drove to work this way this morning. One wonders what damage was done to the vehicle, given that the phone box has been uprooted right through to the foundations.

Edwardian pub at the junction of Boundary & Columbia Roads. Internally, L-shaped bar, with drinking areas to left and right. Pool, TV and darts; lots of pictures on walls. An eclectic bunch of shops – a nail & beauty parlour, chemist, mototcycle dealer and fast food outlet among others.

A fine looking pub which used to have a bit of a rough reputation, it is on the corner of Columbia Road (to the right) and Boundary Road (off to the left).

The '5' Yellow Bus routes head northwest towards Kinson from the town centre. The distinction 5a and 5b refers to the exact routes they take - here, heading into town, the two routes converge and we see a 5a coming out of Columbia Road onto the gyratory as we, aboard the 5b, come out of Redhill Drive.
