Vale Mill and the River Worth
This view has been opened up recently with the felling of trees that lined the river, the remains of the felling being clearly visible. The photograph was taken from within the boundary of the Keighley & Worth valley Railway for which I have a lineside photographer's permit

Vale Mills, Oakworth
Built early 19th century as a cotton mill for John Greenwood & Son. The oldest part is on the right in the background and Listed Grade II. The multistorey block is more recent. Although originally a cotton mill, it was probably later used for woollens as the predominant textile in Yorkshire. The closest part with the north light roof appears most recent and is occupied by Reflex labels. The bulk of the mill beyond is occupied by Linear Composites that was originally part of ICI but is now a subsidiary of Maccaferri.

This is the oldest part of the complex and Listed Grade II. Early 19th century as a cotton mill for John Greenwood & Son but now in multiple occupancy. There is a sharp, blind left hand bend the other side of the arch with instructions to 'hoot'. One of the rare occasions when I have used my horn.

Vale Mills, Oakworth
An early 19th century textile mill for John Greenwood and his son. The earliest block is Listed Grade II. This is a more modern block but the chimneys have gone. The Mill is now occupied by Linear Composites, a subsidiary of Maccaferri. Maccaferri specialises in providing innovative solutions to the geotechnical, construction and mining industries. These include gabion retaining structures. Linear Composites specialises in high strength composites such as ropes, synthetic webbing, geogrids and flame retardant mesh. These have a wide variety of applications in construction, land stabilisation and mining to name a few. It is nice to see an old mill being used for high-tech products.
