Greengates Post Office
Just below Greengates centre in the direction of Apperley Bridge. I am told that many years ago this was occupied by a man who combined the duties of running a Post Office with being the village barber.

Remembrance box, Harrogate Road, Greengates
Painting utility cabinets in abstract or decorative designs has become a fashion in the last few years. This is the first I've seen on the theme of wartime remembrance. The text on the end reads "Commissioned by Friends of Greengates cenotaph. Bradford Street Art box 1 @bdstreetart". The last bit looks like a 'Twitter handle' but isn't. The group does however have a Facebook page showing several designs in the area. For the cenotaph, see Image

Church of St John the Evangelist, Greengates
Just below the fearsome crossroads in the centre of Greengates village, it took a while before I could get a view of the church unobscured by traffic. The church dates from 1893, architects Kendall and Baker. Here the A658 begins its descent to Apperley Bridge and the River Aire in the valley.
