Barnoldswick:Station Road
The photographer is standing just in front of the site of Barnoldswick Station, which closed in the 1960s and was demolished long ago. The street opposite still bears the name of Station Road. A Pennine Motors bus waits by the new bus shelter, with another local bus just behind it.

Station Road, Barnoldswick (3)
In the late 80s, a Barnoldswick Local bus service, operated by Burnley and Pendle Transport using Mercedes midi-buses, was inaugurated. Two circular routes are operated, numbered 30 and 31, and the service has been popular enough to survive into 2008. Initially it was branded 'Whizzard', a somewhat contrived connection with the witchcraft associations of the area.

Barnoldswick: Station Road
Double-decker buses no longer serve Barnoldswick on ordinary services, but Schools service 917 which operates one journey in the morning and one in the afternoon is normally a double-decker, as here with Transdev Burnley & Pendle 122. The bus is in blue and white livery probably because it was acquired second-hand from Northern Blue and it was not considered worthwhile to repaint such an old vehicle.
