St. Crispin Centre
A community centre in the centre of Street. St. Crispin is the patron saint of shoemakers, hence the connection to Street where the Clark's factory dominates. St. Crispin's Day is 25th October, as military historians (Agincourt) and Shakespeare's readers (Henry V) will know.

Crispin Hall
The workers of Clark's boot and shoe factory were well provided for - unlike so many others in nineteenth century Britain. It was William Clark's initiative to provide a large hall for lectures, meetings, a small library and a museum that the employees and locals could make use of. The hall was named St Crispin's (after the patron saint of shoemakers) and opened by John Bright on October 12th, 1885. See Image] for another detail.

Street buildings [12]
A noticr on the front of Crispin Hall. Built in 1883 in the Domestic Revival style as a public hall, library and reading room, it is now a craft centre and hall. Listed, grade II, with details at: https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1345072 The village of Street is situated at the end of the Polden Hills on a dry spot in the Somerset Levels. There is evidence of Roman settlement. In the mid 17th century, the Society of Friends was established in Street and one of the Quaker families who settled here were the Clarks. In 1825 James Clark began the production of slippers and later shoes and boots. The business flourished under his son, William, but profits were ploughed back into employee welfare, housing and education. Much of the housing in the centre of Street was built by the company.
