A former drinking fountain?
At the junction of Dane Rise and Bradford Road, there is what appears once to have been a drinking fountain (too narrow for a horse trough), embedded in stonework with a pediment. It now has a flower box.

Tyning Road shops
Winsley's expansion included a row with shops and the repositioning of the Post Office. Note the cashpoint has been removed and a Wiltshire police postbox can be seen at the end.

2007 : Post Office & Stores, Winsley
Many small post offices are combined with food/general stores. The post office is kept strictly separate from the rest of the business and often has different opening times.

Winsley war memorial
A few wooden crosses are left on the steps, marking the respect of those who left the village in times of conflict and did not return. The cross is a simple enough edifice, being a Portland Stone shaft and cross, rising from an octagonal plinth and three-stepped square base. It is situated in a small triangle of grass at the junction of three roads. Grade II listed.

The war memorial from the east
The cross bears thirteen names from WWI and another six from WWII. The Wiltshire villages of Winsley and neighbouring Turleigh, Conkwell, Murhill and Hartley, enlisted 113 men who served King and country. Their names are kept on an honours board (originally displayed in the Reading Room - since demolished) and now in the stairwell at Winsley Village Club (also known as Winsley Social Club). It is perhaps fitting as the club was the old school in their day. Grade II listed.
