Swan Court
A part of Southwick has been rebuilt with modern housing, with a few artistic additions to further brighten the place. Near this spot was the large Mowlem engineering works before its closure.

The new Southwick Bridge over the Lambrok Stream
The stream runs across the eastern side of the village. With it being an important route the bridge was rebuilt around the 1990s, and it now runs closer to the open air baptistery. Fixed to the side of the railings is a green tube - presumably a water level monitor.

The open air baptistery
Southwick's strong support for the Baptist movement has been a long and important one, dating back to the seventeenth century. With a new church built in 1815 a short walk up the road, this old pool close to the Lambrok Stream was used for baptisms. It was rebuilt and rededicated in 1937. Grade II listed.

A return to the open air blessings
Southwick Baptist church had held open air baptisms in this spot by the Lambrok Stream up until about 1910. The new (1815) church has a baptistery of its own, but the pool was rebuilt by Edward Linzey & Son of Trowbridge. On 22 September, 1937, the baptistery was re-opened by H. L. Taylor, President of the Baptist Union, and a well-attended re-consecration service was held.

The pool by the stream and the road
Southwick Baptist church has a rare example of an open air baptistery, close to the Lambrok Stream and the bridge crossing it. Watery blessings were thought to have been performed in Southwick from about 1655 (the village is renowned for its Baptist traditions) and carried on until about 1910. This pool was rebuilt in 1937 and the ceremony appears to have continued until the 1990s - around the time when the new bridge was built.

A choice after Southwick Bridge
Wynsome Street heads southeast towards Westbury but Breach Lane provides an alternative; other options include the footpaths the follow the tributary to the Lambrok Stream.

Dead woody
A poor Wood Pigeon (Columba palumbus) has flown its last and rests behind the garages in Chantry Gardens. It looks quite fresh and without obvious injuries
