Southwick Baptist church has a rare example of an open air baptistery, close to the Lambrok Stream and the bridge crossing it. Watery blessings were thought to have been performed in Southwick from about 1655 (the village is renowned for its Baptist traditions) and carried on until about 1910. This pool was rebuilt in 1937 and the ceremony appears to have continued until the 1990s - around the time when the new bridge was built.
