Slipway to the lake, Babb?s Mill Recreation Ground, Kingshurst, east Birmingham
It was associated with a boathouse, shown on the 2015 A-Z but not on old maps up to 1991 and not there now. Now there are a couple of car parks accessed from Fordbridge Road, a former turning area for boat trailers, and a small skate park. The fenced platform on the right has a picnic table and a board illustrating the lake's bird life. The River Cole follows its own separate course among the trees on the opposite shore.

Bus in Fordbridge Road turning circle, Kingshurst
Once the terminus of frequent route 93 from Birmingham city centre via Castle Bromwich, when I visited Fordbridge Road turning circle it was served only by half hourly route 59, which reaches the city centre via a meandering route through Shard End, Lea Hall and Yardley. This Dennis Trident/Alexander ALX400, operated by National Express West Midlands, has plenty of room to turn. Located on the south western fringe of the estate and overlooking a sizable park, this is one of Birmingham's more tranquil bus termini.

Lake, Babbs Mill Recreation Ground, Kingshurst, east Birmingham
The lake appears to be fed by a tributary of the River Cole. The Cole itself goes its own way among the vegetation on the right. The foreground might seem unprepossessing but water level was probably low, there was no litter, and behind the camera was a bank of wildflowers. A heron flopped over.
