Urban Oak in Winter
This dormant Oak is in Cell Barnes Road, St Albans - looking north-west towards the shops. It is one of quite a few which marks an historic boundary or route. In this case Cell barnes Lane was before the Second World War very small and rural. After the War the current housing estate was built on farmland. The Oaks are the reminders of time past.

Local Library - closed
This local Library was closed by Hertfordshire County Council on 3 March 2007. It was open half days for most of the week and had provided a number of generations with good and convenient library services, including more recently internet access. (A mobile facility is taking its place). It is next to a parade of local shops and near a number of schools, churches and sports facilities. The future of the building is currently (April 2007) being discussed.
